Building Safe Schools: The Next Step Crisis Response Plan Training—This training is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to assist school personnel in developing Crisis Response or Disaster Preparedness Plans that meet the Federal and State requirements, including the National Incident Management System (NIMS). The workshop will provide participants with the skills to assist school personnel in testing their Crisis Response Plan using a variety of simulation techniques. Each team should bring copies of their school mission statement and Safe School Plan (required by EC 35294). (Begins 5/18/2010)

Building Safe Schools: The First Step Safe School Plan Training—This training is designed to assist school site teams in meeting (1) the statutory requirements of Education Code 35294 mandating a Safe School Plan at every school site and (2) the assurances accompanying the receipt of AB 1113 monies for safe school and violence prevention programs. The training will assist school sites in linking many existing educational support programs and resources with district and community partners. Participants will learn how a Safe School Plan can contribute to increasing test scores and minimizing disruptions that detract from teaching time. (Begins 4/15/2010)
