The Sacramento County Local Child Care and Development Planning Council is responsible for coordinating issues related to quality child care and the availability of child care services, identifying gaps in child care services, and developing priorities for the most underserved areas/communities in child care services. They have developed priorities for funding of subsidized child care program services in Sacramento County for 2007-2012. The priorities have been approved by both the County Board of Education and Board of Supervisors and as required by law, sent on to the Child Development Division, California Department of Education.
Participants
The Sacramento County Local Child Care and Development Planning Council is comprised of 20 members in five specified categories pursuant to California State Education Code 8499.3-8499.7 and appointed by the County Board of Education and Board of Supervisors. The Council serves all of Sacramento County.

Promoting Excellence in Child Care and Education: A Strategic Plan for Child Care and Development in Sacramento County 2007-2012
The Child Care Strategic Plan, developed by the Sacramento County Local Child Care and Development Planning Council, serves as a resource on early care and education in Sacramento County. This document addresses key elements of early care and education in Sacramento County and the Council's policy recommendations for addressing the issues emerging from the key elements. Partners
Partners in the Local Child Care Planning and Development Council include public and private providers of child care services, and representatives from school districts, the community college district, and Sacramento County agencies.
